- Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Côte-d'Or. Surprisingly enough for an appellation of this quality, no Grand Cru exists, however the high quality of the 1er Cru more than compensates for this. The vineyard of Meursault "Perrières" tends to show a soil that is thinner and stonier than many of its immediate neighbours, producing what is arguably one of the finest example wines from this village.
- FermentationTraditional in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation.
- Ageing8 to 10 months ageing in oak barrels, 50% new.
- BarrelsLouis Latour cooperage, French oak, medium toasted.
- Tasting NoteOur Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2022 has a bright and pale yellow color. The nose reveals notes of vanilla, almond and candied lemon. The palate is full and round, with hints of lemon and vanilla. This wine offers a beautiful length.
- Food PairingChicken in cream sauce - skate in brown butter - white truffle risotto - Epoisses cheese.
- Meursault 1er Cru Perrières 2019 - 92 pts - The World of Fine Wine
More typicité on the palate than on the aroma. The vintage bestows a pink, exotic, and litchi scent. A rich, viscous attack, with sweet citrus intensity, which is offset by a cooler line of minerals and lemon pith. The savoury finish has almond-kernel notes. A somewhat exotic Perrières. 2025-30
- Meursault Premier Cru "Perrières" 2018 - Wine Enthusiast - January 2020 - 92/100Intense creaminess on the nose of this wine has a lick of lemon. The palate presents the same combination and adds a textured, pithy and yeasty mouthfeel that seems to drill down to stony coolness, despite the creaminess above. Highlights of ripe Mirabelle juiciness and creamy smoothness last all the way to the long finish.
Anne Krebiehl MW - Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2017 - Burghound.com - USA - June 2019 - 91/100
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2017 - James Suckling - USA - February 2019 - 91/100Quite lifted with ripe nectarines, white peaches and hazelnuts. The palate has a very exotic edge, as well as a real spike of acidity and a slightly lifted edge to the finish. Piercing acidity. Give this two to three years to settle down.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2017 - Wine Spectator - USA - 93/100
The flavors of glazed peach, honey, vanilla and pastry build in intensity to a lingering finish. Creamy in texture and very long, if a bit convoluted now, so give this time to knit together.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2016 - Wine Spectator - May 2018 - 93/100
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2016 - James Suckling - February 2018 - 93/100Aromas of lemongrass, sherbet, dried lemons and apples. Full-bodied, rich and flavorful with cream, light vanilla and cooked apples. Tangy and bright. This needs two or three years to come together.
- Meursault 1er Cru Perrières 2016 - Burgundy Report - Bill Nanson - December 2017A tighter, more concentrated nose - subtle but
finely pure aromatic impressions. Far too cold. Good texture, a wine of
direction, melting complexity - this is rather fine. A little grain of tannin
here. Lovely in the finish - very long. Tasted on December 2017
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2015 - Jancis Robinson - January 2017 - 17/20
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2015 - Burgundy Report - December 2016 - "A weight of flavour"
A wide and actually silky nose. Growing higher tones of complexity, almost floral too - acacia? A faint gas, but then a silkiness and a weight of flavour. Really a great finish here with some intensity of flavour. This is a wine that gets better and better in the mouth. - not the most overt acidity but quite fresh enough. (Not bottled yet) Bill Nanson (UK)
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2012 - Burghound.com - June 2014 - 89/100There is a subtle touch of wood to the equally spicy if different nose of dried yellow orchard fruit along with plenty of the hallmark wet stone character. The medium-bodied flavors possess an attractive and seductive texture with a very suave mouth feel, all wrapped in a slightly toasty and lingering finish where a note of pain grillé surfaces. There is plenty of size, weight and mid-palate concentration (...). 2017+. By Allen Meadows (USA)
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2013 - Burghound.com - June 2015 - 91/100This is harmonious as the fresh, cool and elegant nose presents notes of acacia blossom, citrus peel, wet stone and discreet spice nuances. There is complexity to the attractively delineated and energetic medium-bodied flavors that possess solid persistence, all wrapped in a classy, mineral-driven and refined finish. This is lovely and if it can add more depth than my score presently envisions it could be excellent in time. By Allen Meadows (USA)
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2013 - The World of Fine Wine - 2015 - 16,5/20Sweet appley nose. Soft and juicy, with moderate concentration and acidity.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2013 - Burgundy Report - December 2014 - "Excellent wine"More modest aromas but with rather good width. Lithe, silky, growing, bubbling, intensity - here is a very fine midpalate concentration. Super flavour intensity in the mid-palate. Here is another excellent wine with superb length.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2013 - Tim Atkin - January 2015 - 93/100 (UK)
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2012 - Wine Spectator - August 2015 - 92/100A linear frame supports the lemon, apple, floral and mineral flavors, while bracing acidity keeps the elements delineated and mouthwatering. There's a latent creaminess midpalate that should develop with some age. Best from 2017 through 2027.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2011 - Tom Cannavan's wine-pages.com - August 2015 - 90/100
A little more vanilla here, honey and sweet fresh character, with a nice juiciness at the core, though again it is very dry, touches of honey and sweet apple revealed through the mid palate with a little fat, but a long and concentrated finish that is quite stylish. (UK)
- Meursault "Perrières" 2011 - Burghound.com - Allen Meadows (USA) - June 2013 - 89/100An intensely floral nose trimmed in a deft if not invisible hint of wood blends a panoply of ripe white and yellow fruit aromas together with subtle spice nuances. There is fine detail to the admirably rich medium weight flavors that possess solid energy on the saline finish where the oak resurfaces. 2017+
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2011 - Jancis Robinson - February 2013 - 16.5/20Mealy, oaky nose. Pretty oaky on the palate but has fruit density to carry the oak. Has intensity and length rather than finesse. Good concentration relative to many 2011s. Drink 2015-2021. By Julia Harding MW.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2010 - Wine Spectator Online - February 2013 - 90/100Camphor, clove and white pepper deliver a distinct spiciness, with honey, apple and citrus relegated to the background for now. Racy and long, this still needs time to unwind. Best from 2014 through 2020. By Bruce Sanderson, USA.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières” 2009 - Burghound.com - June 2011 - 92/100A more elegant and higher-toned if not necessarily more complex nose puts on display lemonlime, wet stone, green apple and dried floral hints that slide gracefully into pure, detailed, intense and explosive middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate fat and outstanding persistence on the balanced finish. A terrific Perrières. 2016+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2009 - The Star Online -March 2011White fruits, vanilla and hint of toasty oak. Good backbone of acidity, hint of chalk and lingering finish. By Ed Soon.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2009 - The World of Fine Wine - March 2011 - 17.5/20Welsh gold; lovely mineral core with crystalline fruit. Linear yet with '09 generosity— long, rapier-like finale. By Michael Edwards (UK).
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2009 - Jancis Robinson - January 2011 - 16.5/20Drink 2012-2017: Rich, almost floral nose. Great weight but some definition at last. Real structure. This should certainly be worth hanging on to. Some light marzipan notes and reasonable length. (UK)
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2008 - Wine Spectator - November 2010 - 88/100Very spicy, with hints of oak and candle wax framing apple and banana flavors. Turns pinched on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2020. By Bruce Sanderson, USA.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2008 - Allen Meadows' Burghound - July 2010 - 90-92/100A deft touch of wood frames reserved and primary aromas of white flower, wet stone and subtle spice hints that are followed by admirably pure, precise and detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in an intense and lingering finish that displays plenty of the hallmark minerality of a classic Perrières. This should be quite good. (90-92)/2015+
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2007 - Wine Spectator Insider - November 2009 - 94/100Racy yet stylish and exuding focused flavors of lime, green apple, flint and a hint of vanilla. Fine balance within its taut, linear profile, with a long stony finish. This should be aged beautifully. Best from 2012 through 2025. From France. By Bruce Sanderson, USA.
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2007 - Burghound.com - July 2009 - 89-92/100Relatively generous wood fights somewhat with the fresh, elegant and pure white flower and green apple aromas that marry into classy if not especially deep flavors that clearly possess ample soil and mineral influence on the detailed, vibrant and impressively long finish. This strikes me as rather awkward today and I suspect that it will harmonize once in bottle. My score offers the benefit of the doubt. 2013+
- Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2006 - Wine Spectator - 2009 - 87/100Ripe, with tropical fruit, honey and butterscotch flavors, this white picks up oak spice on the finish. A touch hollow midpalate, yet pulls it together nicely. Drink now through 2014. 250 cases made.
- 2006 Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières"From a single block of vineyards, purchased as juice, the Latour 2006 Meursault Perrieres offers scents of white peach, honey, toasted almond, and lily-of-the-valley. Pungent citrus zest and chalky mineral notes compliment the creamy texture and peachy, nutty richness in evidence on the palate, and a horseradish-like hint (possibly from botrytis) fails to disturb a polished, richly-satisfying finish. This should keep well for at least 5-7 years.
- 2004 Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" - Burghound.com - July 2006 - 89 points :A touch of vanilla combines with upper register white flower and white peach aromas. there is excellent intensity, punch and minerality on the admirably persistent finish.
- 2003 Meursault “Perrières” - Burghound.com - October 2005 - 87 points :A somewhat more elegant and higher-toned nose of white flower and peach complements the pretty, round and sweet flavors that offer lovely complexity but frankly a heavy finish. To be sure, this is delicious, dense and mouth coating but this lacks the elegance one expects from Perrières. 87/now
- 2002 Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" - Wine Advocate - February 26th, 2004 - 91-93 points :A sensual, light to medium-bodied, yellow plum-scented wine, the 2002 Meursault "Perrières" is a satiny-textured, soft effort. It reveals a powerful underlying minerality, gorgeous depth and a pure, lush, prolonged finish. Projected maturity 2005-2012.
- 2001 Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" - Wine Advocate - April 23rd, 2003 - 90-92 points :Gorgeous flesh, concentration, and depth are found in the spicy, mineral-scented 2001 Meursault-Perrières. Medium-bodied, intense, and revealing outstanding purity, this wines also displays an impressively long, detailed finish. Projected maturity : now-2009.
