A little more direct, beautifully perfumed and well-focused. Silky, growing broad - equally silky in the mouth - a bit more intensity versus the Genevrières but not the same airy delivery of flavour - but still beautiful flavour - calmer finishing but still with a core of energetic fruit.

Beautifully fresh, lime, white peach, very fine toast, white pepper; powerful, lots of pressure and content, structure, acidity, great length. (October 2024)

This has excellent balance of the textural complexity that has made this appellation so popular around the world. Lovely orange blossom and lemon tart character, plus a stony freshness that lifts the generous richness and body of this beautiful wine. Drink or hold. (Stuart Pigott, June 2024)

Cool, airy and elegant aromas of white orchard fruit and a range of floral elements also display just enough oak influence to merit pointing out. I very much like the texture of the rich, vibrant and utterly delicious medium weight flavors that coat the palate with sap, all wrapped in a sneaky long finale where touches of citrus zest and youthful austerity slowly emerge. This youthful smoky and chalky Meursault has impressive concentration, richness and structure, but is anything other than demonstrative. You could certainly say that this is a noble understatement. Very long, texturally complex  finish. Drink or hold.

In contrast to several of the prior wines, there is an attractive freshness to the layered nose of various citrus and floral scents that evidence more subtle aromas of pear, green apple and the barest trace of wood. There is fine richness and volume to the relatively muscular flavors that exhibit good power along with a certain refinement on the dry, long and balanced finale. This is a wine that typically drinks well young and the 2021 version should be no exception. 2028+

An intense, viscous white, showing vanilla, butterscotch, peach and clove notes. Bright and juicy, with focus that persists through the long aftertaste. Concentrated, this should develop well. Drink now through 2028. - B.S.

Straight, well-balanced, and energetic, with sweet, candied fruit to finish. 2024-30.

The 2021 Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, hazelnuts and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's comparatively rich by the standards of the site and the vintage, concluding with a saline finish.

There is good freshness and verve to the notably rich, round and rather plump medium-bodied flavors that display reasonably
good length if only average depth on the bitter lemon-inflected and youthfully austere finale. 2025+

High-toned aromas, with lime and white flowers. It has a glassy feel, ripe, but straight and pure. Crisp and neatly edged, it carries to an energetic and savory finish. This is a favorite of mine in the Louis Latour Portfolio. not a domaine wine, but managed as such. It shows particularly well in these warmer summers. Although it is quite a light bodied and trim wine, it ages very well. 2024-30+.

30% new oak. Cask sample. Weighty, rich and intense Blagny but with some interesting floral notes and cut with freshening acidity. Relatively good value for the step-up in quality. (AWH) Drink 2022 - 2026

Aromas of lemon zest, orange oils and acacia delight with precision. Pure and delicate notes of lemon, orange oil, geranium, white mushroom, brioche and crushed stone gently lingers on the palate along its long vanilla finish. (USA, December 2023)

The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny offers up aromas of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, green apple and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, round and rich, it's a gourmand, textural white from this higher-altitude site.

Here's a very typical Meursault that combines the generosity and textural complexity we expect from this appellation, with liveliness that makes it very satisfying. Good concentration. A ton of flinty character at the substantial finish. Drink or hold.

An elegant and sophisticated Meursault with delicate candied citrus and pear character, but a lot of minerality and impressive vitality for this appellation. The power grows at the long, lemon and powdered-stone finish. Drink or hold.

"The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny is showing very well, mingling notes of citrus zest, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, bright and elegantly fleshy, it's open and charming, concluding with a precise, saline finish."

This wine exhibits fresh lemon, gardenia and white flowers, with subtle notes of light toast, toasted almonds and oak spice. It is elegant
and possesses a delicate and ethereal quality on the palate. (USA, November 2023)

A creamy, round-textured white with cooked-apple and some ripe-peach character. Some melon, too. It's full-bodied with layers of fruit and a soft, fruity finish. Drink now.

There is just enough reduction to overshadow the underlying fruit at present though it shouldn't last. By contrast, there is good freshness and verve to the solidly voluminous flavors that possess a supple mid-palate that tightens up somewhat on the lightly stony, clean and dry finale.

Pale gold. An appetizing fragrance, freshly ripe yellow apple. The same excitement and refreshment on the palate, thanks to the higher, cooler vineyards and sensitive treatment in the winery (no bâtonnage but retaining a high proportion of the lees). (Neil Beckett,cask sample)

 Aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, lime zest and toasted hazelnuts introduce Latour's 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine that remains fresh and lively. 

A little more toastiness to the fresh nose  - eventually relaxing with fruit and a modest (non-oak) spice. More open, more inviting, melting with proper Meursault flavour. This is delicious and excellent

Cask sample. Open and expressive on the nose. Very strong lees character - mealy, creamy pears. On the palate, dry, spicy and flavourful but a bit lean on the mid palate, then quite high acid on the finish. (JH, UK)

Exhibiting aromas of warm bread, orange oil and crisp yellow apple, Latour's 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny is medium to full-bodied, succulent and lively, with a vibrant core of fruit and a saline finish. It has turned out well.

November bottling. Fruity and expressive aroma. This is lively and juicy. Quite a slim texture. A joyful wine. Still quite a lot of oak showing, but this should mellow. Overt. Just nicely fresh, but sweeter acidity. Softer than many a vintage in this line up, but nicely balanced. It is very fruity on the finish too. A forward vintage for more immediate drinking. From 2020/21 Score 17.5

Very fresh, just-ripe fruit on the nose. Straightforward. Drink: 2020 - 2025 (cask sample)

A tight nose. Wide, complex - rather tasty and certainly a little ginger-spiced flavour-profile. Lovely classic, delicious flavoured. Excellent!

Elegant note of white flowers. Concentrated. Glassy. Good depth to the palate. Compact energy and dry salty minerality. Savoury and well edged. Excellent example of Blagny. Needs time. From 2023. Top notch. Score 18

Lean, with butter, spice and toast notes and moderate apple and citrus flavors... come back with length on the finish. 

Slight nutty character with some saltiness adding a mineral dimension. Cooked lemon on the palate with a buttery note to finish. Drink 2018-2024

Fine pale colour. The bouquet is slightly nutty with some greener notes, a good weight of fruit on the palate, some tension, not too weighty. Still some heat at the back, but this will be a good, reliable Meursault. (tasted prior to bottling)

Fruiter than 2016 and also floral, but with slightly exotic flowers. This has an elegant freshness in this warm vintage. Not at all heavy. It has a smooth citrus finish with a hint of minerality at the end... fresh lift after a round middle. An elegant 2015 indeed. On par or a touch better than 2017. Score 17.7. From 2020, but not hurry at all...this will age nicely, but does not demand ageing.

Good example of the higher situation working well.

Toasted nuts and white flower aromas protrude from the welcoming nose. Yellow fruit, tangerine zest, and dried pear are notable on the layered palate. The prodigiously long finish is remarkably mineral-laden. By Gabe Sasso (USA)

This structured wine is full of fruit and has a tight texture. It shows a creamy side from new wood, although this is well integrated into the fruity acidity and the mineral edge. (USA)

(a Latour monopole) A ripe yet cool and airy nose offers up notes of green apple and citrus along with a wisp of lavender. The supple, round and nicely energetic flavors offer good minerality on the attractively textured and better balanced finish. This is really quite pretty and if it can develop better depth before it matures, my rating may be a bit too conservative. 89/2020+

This is firm and rich with lots of flint and stone character under the ripe fruit. Reserved style. Medium to full body. Give it time to open. Better in 2022.

Really a wide and attractive nose, very Meursault with a hint of spice. Silky, wide, fine concentration, intense too - here I would say with enough energy and certainly a very lovely mouth-watering finish. Tasty wine - very tasty! Bill Nanson (UK)

Citronella, lemon cake, spice and mineral aromas and flavors highlight this textural white. Packs more punch up front than on the moderately long finsih. - BS

From the highest point in the Meursault vineyards, this wine is crisp and cool. It has a tight, bright character that is driven by the steely, mineral texture. The grapefruit flavors go with the riper apple and pear roundness to give a wine that will take a little time to develop. Drink from 2018.

There is a lovely texture to the notably rich and caressing medium weight flavors that exude a fine minerality that adds a certain lift to the delicious and seductively textured finale.

A good deep Meursault nose with just a little added oak notes at the base. (...) Here is a really concentrated wine with waves of flavour and a very slowly mouth-watering finish. Just an impression of tannin too... A rich wine. (cask sample) By Bill Nanson (UK)

Light note of toast on the nose and a herbal leafy aroma. It is light bodied and fresh with a slight bitterness at the end - a pithy note. There is good acidity. Better than 2011 for sure. Actually I liked this more than I expected. Score 17. It is drinking very well now.

Very distinctive candied lemon aroma. Rich and dense. Much thicker texture. Developing very nicely. Polar opposite to the 2013. Here the acidity cuts well though the oily texture of the palate. This has the body too. Lovely now, but I am not sure how beneficially it will age further...not for 10 years, maybe for up to five. 

Last good crop before 2017. This is light and thin. It is fresh and pithy and has a salty note at the end. Maybe a little higher in the crop. Not a lot of benefit in waiting.

Marzipan aroma both expressive and concentrated with an edge of roasted hazelnuts. This is delicious now. It is energetic. It has edge. Vital wine. Well defined. You can still wait. Still evolving. Excellent. I would wait another 3-5 years. This is a keeper.

A satisfying nose of ripe citrus fruits and hints of fresh flowers and herbs. Creamy and buttery palate underpinned by rich and piquant intense lime fruit with smoky oak and fine complex length. (UK)

This has an inciting fresh citrus nose with a touch of freshly mown hay. This is silkier in texture than I expected. It is fresh, elegant, delicate, and pure. Lovely now. This a real surprise. I thought it would appear older and leaner. It's better than expected. Very yellow still as well.

There is a caramelized orange note on the nose. The palate is a bit better. It is rich... marmite (yeasty)... lacks a bit of acidity even for Blagny. It's weighty and lacks energy. The second bottle has more of a honeyed note. It is a bit fresher maybe. Still rather toffee-like fruit, but it has more zip. It shows better on the finish.You can still find enjoyment in this wine with a meal, bearing in mind the vintage conditions, but it will not delight.

This has marked freshness on the nose. Lime notes. It is compact, tense, and rich. You taste the salty finish. Power and richness. Depth of the palate is excellent. This is drinking well now, but it will continue to age. Revisit in another 5 years.

This has an undertone of toffee and crème brûlée and yet is much more interesting and fresher than you might expect. So fresh. It has stuffing, but is not too fat either, even at 14 degrees. They have become more focused with age and it has become less of a 'hot' vintage. I think the 'minerality' is helping here.

This has a lime freshness and a note of honey. It is elegant with savoury, stoney, and sappy character. It has a light austerity. I like it. Perhaps the finish is not the longest, but still fresh. No hurry, but perhaps will not benefit from further evolution. It has a certain grip.

Beautifully creamy and hazelnut rich touches of custard and apricot and utterly charming. Powerful palate, great nutty concentration and a lovely shimmering length and freshness. Juicy and lemony, and though not enormously complex in the finish, utterly delightful. (UK)

Wet cold and cloudy year. This is more oxidative... and savoury. Rather flat on the palate. It does lack energy. There is a notable salty savoury note, but lacks flesh and acidity. The flatness and oxidation is due to the rot. The mould is responsible for high levels of quinone, an oxidative component, which makes the wine more susceptible to oxidation.

This has a ripe aroma. It is 'sweet' juicy and rounded and charming. It is lighter and it has minerality through the palate. This is a good reflection of the terroir. Floral and fruity. A good surprise. Better than expected and therefore ... maybe more interesting than the 99 in a way. A bit more concentration.

This has a good intensity of bouquet, there is some tension. It has a lime, lemon quality. It does have surprisingly good energy. Big harvest, so not a great deal of concentration, but so attractive... so very pretty.
