Its terroir is highly complex which creates a wine that is supple and smooth with a wonderful rich structure. This wine should be kept for several years to allow it to demonstrate its potential and refinement.

- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (USA) - January 2019 - 91/100
I tasted one of several lots that will compose Latour's 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, an ample, expressive wine that's generously endowed with spicy cherry fruit and structured around supple but youthfully chewy tannins. Based on this component, the finished wine should be a success and will drink well young. (cask sample)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 - Wine Spectator - May 2018 - 95/100
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 - James Suckling - February 2018 - 98/100This is a phenomenal wine that reminds me why I love wine. It's a snowball effect. It has a full body with ultra-fine tannins. It just rolls off the palate. A phenomenal finish. The purity, focus and balance to this is mind-blowing. Three barrels. Try in 2024.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 - Burgundy Report - Bill Nanson - December 2017Some good aromatic energy - fine depth of pure, dark-red fruit. Yes, lots of energy here - every part of the mouth being filled - fine fruit framed with a more evident tannin than the Chambertin - long almost chewy finish but a fine finish - long...
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 - Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris - January 2018 - 92-94/100
Rich dense dark purple with vibrant rim. Bright vibrant dynamic nose, with quite an explosion of fruit, very much in the style of the vineyard, lots of energy some tension to the dark raspberry fruit, just a note of wood which intrudes at the back. Otherwise very good. (Tasted prior to bottling)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 - Wine Spectator - July 2017 - 95/100
Floral, macerated cherry and graphite aromas give way to raspberry, spice and violet notes in this concentrated, muscular red. Fleshy and chewy in texture, with ample tannins in reserve. The graphite elemant pervades from start to finish.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 - Burghound.com - April 2017 - 93/100
The moderately high-toned nose reflects notes of red currant, raspberry, the sauvage and a note of forest floor. The textured, seductive and utterly delicious middle weight flavors possess solid if not exceptional concentration though what is impressive is the focused power on the gorgeously long, balanced and built-to-age finale. Once again, at least some patience is strongly advised. 2030+. Allen Meadows (USA)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 - James Suckling - Avril 2017 - 99/100
This is a phenomenal wine with such depth and intensity in terms of aromas of black cherries, wet earth and orange peel. It's like looking over the edge of a cliff it's so deep. Full body, perfect tannin tension and resounding purity. It goes on for minutes on the palate with the dark fruit and creamy mineral character. Only shame is that only 100 cases were made! Drink in 2022.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 - Jancis Robinson - January 2017 - 17.5+/20
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Neil Cammies - U.K - October 2019This is a blockbuster wine with the showiest nose of spice, cassis and a punnet of deep, red and black fruits. On the palate the fruit carries a little sweetness initially then the spice characters tumble in with some kirsch cherry weight. The tannins are prominent but silky and the finish is a mile long. For those who like their pinot noir with plenty of gas in the tank this is the very chap for you.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Wine Spectator Insider - Avril 2015 - 94/100Black cherry, raspberry, mocha and spice flavors gather steam as this builds to a long, fruit-stained finish. Combines power and elegance, intensity and focus, leaving an aftertaste of kirsch, mineral and spice. Best from 2019 through 2033.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Burgundy Report - June 2014 - "very pretty"Again, very pretty fruit aromas - this time it seems, with a little white pepper too. Fuller, more concentrated yet with plenty of freshness. Interestingly this seems more impressive despite seeming less dynamic than the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Petits Monts”. A more contemplative wine. - Bill Nanson
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Burghound.com - April 2014 - 91/100There is a background touch of wood to the ripe and fresh aromas of black berry liqueur, earth and menthol nuance. The medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate density with sufficient dry extract that it imparts a velvety texture that an also be found on the dusty and palate coating finish. By Allen Meadows (USA)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Jancis Robinson - January 2014 - 16/20Bright crimson. Rather muddy nose. Soft, gentle fruit. Agreeable rather than knockout. Redcurrant flavours. Drink 2020-2028 (cask sample) UK
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 - Tim Atkin - February 2014 - 93/100 (UK)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 - Wine Spectator - June 2014 - 92/100Rich and focused on the cherry, currant and spice flavors, with an underlying mineral streak. More fruity than complex and layered, but this is long and well-balanced. Best from 2017 through 2030. By Bruce Sanderson (USA)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2010 - Wine Spectator - October 2013 - 92/100The cherry and raspberry notes are reticent and rich, with a beam of acidity and refined tannins lending support. Shows potential on the long finish, where earth and tea accents chime in. Best from 2016 through 2030.
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009 - Wine Spectator - February 2012 - 90/100Dark, but not opaque, this red offers black cherry and blackberry aromas and flavors tinged with spice. The tannins finish on the bitter side, but there's sweet fruit and flesh, so give this time. Best from 2014 through 2022. (USA)
- Charmes-Charmbertin Grand Cru 2009 - Wine Enthusiast -October 2011 - 93/100 - "Cellar Selection"Firmly strucutred wine, which also voasts delicious jammy fruit, very ripe, very opulent. The tannins are sweet and rich, suggesting aging potential over 7-8 years and more. An impressive wine. (USA)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009 - Jancis Robinson - January 2011 - 17/20Pretty rich and evolved on the nose. Firm and more ambitious and structured than many Charmes Chambertins. Lots to get your teeth into here. Drink 2013-2020. (UK)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2008 - Wine Enthusiast - December 2010 - 92/100The wine is defined by its power and dense concentration. It shows solid black fruits, plums, fig and licorice as well as dark tannins. It seems a little austere at this young stage and needs several years to flesh out. By Roger Voss (USA).
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2008 - Burghound.com - April 2010 - 89/100An expressive and moderately complex nose of fresh red pinot fruit highlighted by discreet wood influence gives way to generous, rich and relatively accessible medium-bodied flavors. 2020+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2007 - Wine Spectator - March 2010 - 92/100This is all about the silky texture and the bright structure, with finely meshed tannins. The fruit seems submerged today, just a little shy, but it's sweet and lingers on the finish, so be patient. Best from 2013 through 2023. (USA)
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2007 - Burghound.com - April 2009 - 92/100A beguiling nose that is highly complex and very ripe, indeed this is the ripest wine in the range with earthy and underbrush suffused red and dark berry fruit aromas preceding rich, full and mouth coating flavors thatpossess solid volume and mid-palate density, all wrapped in a mouth coating and beautifully persistent finish. 2014+. By Allen Meadows (USA).
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2006 - Wine Spectator - June 24th, 2008 - 88-91/100Bottled in January 2008, revealed a rich, broad tapestry of cherry, spice and earth flavors. By Bruce Sanderson (USA).
- Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2003 - Wine Spectator - May 31st, 2006 - 88/100There's nice cherry and blackberry notes up front, but this quickly turns dry and pinched on the finish. Best from 2008 trough 2018. (USA)
- 1999 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru – Guide Fleurus des vins 2005 - 18/20 :The nose expresses intense aromas of candied cassis and liquorice. Powerful mouth revealing a great finesse.
- Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 1985 - Wine Spectator - March 1988 - 85/100Lean and astringent, a sharply focused wine with enough red cherry, spice a nd toast character peeking through to portend some real dvelopment in 3-5 y ears. Dries out on the finish.
