Description

Chardonnay is a native grape variety of Burgundy. Chardonnay perfectly matches the terroir of Burgundy: poor soils or calcareous marl, perfect exposure but a temperate climate. As a result the sugar content can reach a high level while maintaining a balance of fruit and acidity.

Tasting Note
The wine has a pretty light golden colour with a slight greenish tint, a deep elegant aroma, a medium-full body with a gentle vanilla creaminess - an enchanting ensemble of fruit and acidity culminating in a strong, complete finish. Tasted January 2007

This is an elegant, understated chardonnay that is similar to Chablis but slightly richer due to its more southerly origin in the Cote d'Or. Expect subtle aromas of apple, lemon and a distant waft of oak smoke, vanilla cream and spice. It is mid-weight, nicely compact with some juicy acidity and alcohol warmth. Fresh, dry, delicate, slightly skinny palate with a creamy acidity. Lemon, lime, slate, pear, apple skin, light butter and spice flavours. Good juicy palate if a bit austere. Solid food wine for the money. Nice improvement over the last decade.
